Early pick up from central locations in Thessaloniki and transportation by bus to Ormos Panagias, situated in NE of the Sithonia peninsula in Chalkidiki. From there we will sail south of the Athos Peninsula, where the highest point is 2.033 m. and continue sailing north, along the western coast. You will have the opportunity to admire from the cruise ship, the mysterious and miraculous place which has been for centuries the center of Orthodoxy and you will find out new information about the history of Mount Athos and 8 of its monasteries. The ‘Holy Mountain’, which is forbidden to women and children, is also a recognized artistic site. The layout of the monasteries had an influence as far as Russia, and its school of painting influenced the history of Orthodox art. Mount Athos is an Unesco heritage list.
After the end of approximately 4 hours cruise you will stop in the village of Ouranoupoli. Enjoy your free time in order to discover this beautiful village, have a walk, to shop or to have a delicious traditional meal at one of the best taverns there.
Taking the way back to Ormos Panagias, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful program with traditional dances and Greek music. The cruise will finish in Ormos Panagias, where the bus will be waiting for you to drive back to the hotels. Return to Thessaloniki late in the afternoon.
